Few tips
on how to take care of your extensions
• When you have had your extensions fitted, do not wash your hair for 24 hours if you have micro ring extensions, and for 2 days if extensions pre-bonded with keratin.
• Before washing hair, brush gently with a hair extensions brush.
• Always hold the extensions whilst brushing to avoid placing tension on the roots, never back comb the roots area.
• When washing, the head should be in an upright position.
• If swimming, remember chlorine and sea water can soften bonds and dry hair out, so always shower hair thoroughly after swimming.
• Use a special hair extensions shampoo. Or if you are on the budget – use a baby shampoo with a ph level lower than 6.0 (Johnson’s baby shampoo)
• DO NOT rub or massage when washing. Use you fingers to stroke the shampoo gently into the hair from the roots to the tips.
• Rinse thoroughly using clean running water, gently squeeze but DO NOT rub to remove excess water.
• Apply a conditioner; avoid bonded areas near the scalp. Do not use heavy protein or silicone based conditioners as it may cause the hair to matt or tangle.
• After washing and conditioning, wrap a towel around the hair and pat gently to remove excess water (do not rub extensions).
• Never use a brush on wet hair extensions!
• If the hair extensions are longer than 10″ then place in a loose plait and secure with a covered band on the end before going to bed at night.
• NEVER sleep on wet or damp extensions, the extensions should always be dry.
• Electric curling tongs and hot brushes may be used, but avoid the bonded areas as direct heat may soften and distort the bonds.
• You CAN dye your roots while extensions are in. The best way to do this is to dye around the hairline (where hair is seen if in a ponytail) and down the centre parting.
